Requirements

Candidates should have 8+ years of experience in site reliability engineering or a similar role, with a strong background in designing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems. Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is required, along with expertise in container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes. A deep understanding of networking, storage, and database technologies is essential, as well as strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, C/C++, or Java. Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible, Salt, Terraform, or CloudFormation is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Staff/Senior Staff Software Platform Engineer will design and implement highly scalable and reliable systems to support Zoox's autonomous vehicle platform. They will lead efforts to optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability, and develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems to ensure proactive identification and resolution of issues. The role involves collaborating with software engineering teams to improve deployment processes and automation, conducting root cause analysis of production issues, and implementing corrective actions. Additionally, they will design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices in site reliability engineering.
