Responsibilities

  • Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as proxy during bench shifts, including coaching team members, providing feedback, and strengthening performance measures
  • Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the team to follow pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, genuine care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and proactively resolving insurance/medication issues; coach the team to do the same
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
  • Support effective management of pharmacy inventory by following and coaching on best practices, with focus on cold chain products
  • Partner with Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues as needed
  • Remain flexible for scheduling/business needs and contribute to team dynamic; write pharmacy schedule if directed
  • Maintain relevant clinical/technical skills and seek opportunities to expand knowledge
  • Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing) where permissible; empower the team to provide it
