Requirements

Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, including company-required trainings and CMEs
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
Act as a role model demonstrating genuine care, empathy, and compassionate care
Follow and direct adherence to pharmacy workflow procedures, safety guardrails, and inventory best practices
Ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations
Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee pharmacy operations as proxy

Responsibilities

Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Oversee the pharmacy during bench shifts without overlap, including coaching pharmacy team members, providing feedback to the Pharmacy Manager, and strengthening performance measures
Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team
Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving insurance/medication issues
Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, and engage/support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
Manage pharmacy inventory, with focus on protecting cold chain products, and coach the team on best practices
Partner with Pharmacy Manager to ensure regulatory compliance and escalate issues as needed
Support team dynamic by writing pharmacy schedule if directed and fostering a safe, inclusive environment
Support access to care through clinical services like testing and prescribing (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible, and empower the pharmacy team
