Requirements

  • Act as a role model demonstrating genuine care and setting standards for the pharmacy team
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team
  • Accountable for management, oversight, and operation of all aspects within the pharmacy
  • Follow and direct pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
  • Maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through trainings and CMEs
  • Actively seek opportunities to expand knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Live the purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as proxy during bench shifts without overlap
  • Strengthen pharmacy performance through effective coaching, consistent follow-up of team members, and providing feedback to the Pharmacy Manager
  • Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing team adherence to procedures
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, genuine care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving insurance/medication issues
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize
  • Support effective management of pharmacy inventory, following best practices with focus on cold chain products, and coach the team
  • Partner with Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with regulations and escalate issues as needed
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; support writing the pharmacy schedule if directed
  • Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible, and empower the team to provide it
