Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of industry experience in data infrastructure/data engineering, with at least 8 years of experience using Python and SQL. A minimum of 4 years of experience is required with DBT, Snowflake, and Infrastructure as Code tools like CDK and Terraform. Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, RDS, EKS, DMS, and EMR is necessary, along with experience in big data platforms like Kafka, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Cassandra, and Airflow. Experience with relational and NoSQL databases in production, strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns, and prior experience working on cross-functional teams are also required. Java experience is a plus, and experience with CI/CD is a core competency.
The Staff Data Engineer will design, implement, and maintain high-quality data infrastructure services, including Data Lake, Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, and data access layers. They will develop robust DBT models and jobs for analytics and machine learning, and create scalable real-time streaming and offline ETL pipelines. Responsibilities include designing and managing a data warehouse for secure access to large datasets, continuously improving data operations through automation and optimization, and creating engineering documentation for designs, runbooks, and best practices. Collaboration with the Analytics team for data modeling, reporting, and ingestion is also a key duty.
