Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • 10+ years of experience in electro-mechanical engineering
  • Skilled with CAD tools
  • Expertise with battery cells and interconnect such as laser welding and ultrasonic bonding
  • Expertise with module packaging including integrating PCBs and interconnect into enclosures
  • Experienced with production level DFx and FMEA
  • Experience with mechanical and thermal stress-testing such as vibration, shock, and thermal cycling
  • Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Own the satellite battery product from clean sheet to flight
  • Execute all aspects of battery pack electro-mech design including battery cell interconnect, packaging, thermal and electrical accommodation, leading design reviews, etc
  • Produce drawings and documents including fabrication packages, interface control documents, assembly procedures, test procedures, certification reports, etc
  • Design for thermal management and support thermal analysis
  • Design for mass manufacturing and assembly of packs
  • Execute UN38.3 certification tests
  • Perform space product qualification, support production acceptance testing
