Staff Software Engineer - Backend

Machinify is seeking a skilled Staff Software Engineer - Backend to join our growing platform engineering team. You will leverage deep programming expertise to design and build scalable, reliable backend systems. The ideal candidate has strong experience in application system architecture and design, as well as proven leadership skills, whether in serving as a tech lead or guiding complex projects. Our engineering team is at the cutting edge, developing high-performance ML and AI products that are transforming the landscape of healthcare.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to backend server development to ensure our system is extensible, scalable, and secure.
• Collaborate with other teams to understand and implement necessary system changes for future customer-focused deliverables.
• Design and implement complex frameworks for applying machine learning techniques to large data volumes.
• Deliver reliable and high-performing software.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of strong experience in backend-focused software development.
• Skill in reading, understanding, and improving the source code of complex software systems.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity.
• A passion for learning new things.
• A drive to write high-quality software.

Technical Skills (Selection of these is ideal)

• Working experience with Java, Scala, and the JVM.
• Working experience with SQL.
• Experience in Rust and Python is a bonus.
• A strong Computer Science foundation in data structures and asynchronous programming.
• BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
