Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting and at least 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant. A solid understanding of corporate accounting principles, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and previous experience with accounting software systems are required. Experience assessing and delivering variance analysis to an executive level, a team-player attitude, and the ability to work on-site in Gaithersburg 3 days per week are also necessary. Desired skills include high accuracy, attention to detail, and some experience with FP, FPTM, and TM projects. US Citizenship is required for potential federal agency clearance.
Responsibilities
The Staff Accountant will support the Accounting Department with fundamental accounting practices and participate in the assessment of accounting policies and procedures. Responsibilities include setting up new projects by reviewing contracts, preparing GL entries, preparing monthly bank and fixed asset reconciliations, and managing timekeeping entries. The role involves collaborating with staff for monthly activities, providing accurate information and variance analysis, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, and contributing to monthly billing to meet department SLAs.
