Candidates should have experience building data model-driven declarative systems, expertise with service-based architectures and distributed databases, and experience developing cloud-based or similar highly concurrent, distributed systems. Familiarity with both relational databases and schema-less NoSQL or key-value stores, proficiency in transforming structured and unstructured data, and production quality code experience in Python, Go, or C++ are required. Comfort with testing as a first-class activity, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing with associated automations, and the ability to deliver and accept feedback gracefully are also necessary. Bonus points include experience with cloud databases like Cassandra, Snowflake, and Redshift, data analytics frameworks like Apache Spark, developing design tools, tests, or test automation, experience with testing frameworks, Jenkins or Bamboo in a CI/CD environment, familiarity with functional programming paradigms, or experience developing software for high-assurance, safety-critical, or life-critical domains.
The role involves designing and developing performant services and tools for data modeling, replication, and governance. Responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues on query compilers and data pipelines, owning features from design to delivery including sustained care, serving as the data modeling expert for the team, and collaborating with other teams on cross-functional design. Additionally, the role requires understanding and evolving the larger system architecture and its impact on development and design.
