Position Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an experienced Oversight Director to join our General Medicine Metabolic Clinical Trials Team. This role, hired at either a Director (D) or Senior Director (Sr D) level depending on experience, is responsible for the strategic management of indication or client-specific portfolios within a Therapeutic Unit. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing and overseeing global clinical trials specifically in Obesity and Diabetes Type I/II indications. As part of our PPD® clinical research services, you will play a vital role in directing, coordinating, and managing the technical and operational aspects of clinical trials, ensuring their successful completion. You will collaborate with functional area leads to identify and address critical project issues, implementing effective solutions. Your work contributes to delivering life-changing therapies and improving health outcomes globally.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for strategic indication or client-specific portfolio management within a Therapeutic Unit.
• Provide therapeutic expertise in project delivery execution, reacting quickly and appropriately to escalations.
• Provoke critical thinking in Project Leads regarding delivery operations, financial negotiations, and risk mitigation/issue management.
• Drive overall strategy development for proposals and pre-proposal opportunities.
• Expertly navigate situations, ensuring Project Leads remain empowered while maintaining oversight.
• Provide insight into proposal strategy in preparation for bid defense.
• Collaborate with the Therapeutic Unit Head in the development of business growth strategies.
• Maintain awareness and engage as appropriate in the Change of Control (Con Mod) process.
• Communicate with People Managers to support employee development, providing expertise and perspective related to client needs, indication, and therapeutic knowledge.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.

Experience

• Previous experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10-12+ years).
• 5+ years of management responsibility.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Extensive experience managing/overseeing global clinical trials in Obesity/Diabetes Type I/II indications is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Comprehensive therapeutic area knowledge.
• Understanding of clinical development guidelines and directives, and regulatory guidelines.
• Expert knowledge of the key principles of cross-functional project management (Time, Quality, Cost).
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional project teams.
