Requirements

  • Current US Foods employee should apply through internal Workday career site
  • Experience managing, supporting, and developing a team of FSQA professionals (direct oversight of 4+ food safety and quality professionals)
  • Expertise as FSQA lead and subject matter expert in assigned product categories (Grocery, COP, or Produce)
  • Technical expert in regulatory performance standards, critical to quality attributes, processing techniques, environmental monitoring, and general microbiology for assigned categories
  • Working knowledge of specific regulatory programs related to assigned product category(ies) (e.g., FSIS, Low Acid Canned Food Processing, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, The Produce Rule)
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Development, Category Management, Packaging Science, Merchandising, Sales, Sustainability, Specialty Operations, Marketing, IT, Regulatory, Legal)
  • Capability to manage relationships with external vendors/suppliers

Responsibilities

  • FSQA lead and subject matter expert for assigned product categories in the Company’s Product Data Management and Specification System; drive continuous improvement
  • Support management of the private label customer feedback system
  • Manage investigations regarding product safety and quality
  • Collaborate with suppliers and Category Management to maintain product specifications and ensure adherence to food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide direction and mentoring for direct and indirect reports to support consistent practices and continuous improvement
  • Develop and manage programs for supplier facility evaluations for food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Compile data for quarterly FSQA Vendor scorecards for assigned categories
  • Maintain and provide updates on Food Safety & Quality key performance indicators at cross-functional and business meetings
  • Serve as active member of cross-functional category team to maintain food safety standards, regulatory compliance, while balancing innovation and commercialization
  • Provide or identify resources to educate cross-functional partners on food safety, quality expertise, policies, and regulations specific to categories
  • Participate in plant trials and/or first productions to ensure products meet brand standards for food safety and quality
  • Actively manage supplier, customer, and internal feedback to improve product quality and drive continuous improvement
  • Analyze complaint and product evaluation data to identify trends and opportunities with products and vendors; compile and issue quarterly FSQ scorecards
  • Support personnel training programs for team members on topics like GFSI audit schemes, food safety programs, quality standards, sanitation, HACCP, FSMA, etc
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
