Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate financial results and projections across all financial statements
Effective written and verbal communication skills to present relevant information to senior management and business unit officers
Strong personal computer skills and proficiency in analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) to perform analyses and communicate financial information
Strong accounting (GAAP), reporting, and financial analysis knowledge, usually acquired through an advanced degree program or related work experience
7 to 10 years of related experience with emphasis on project analysis, management reporting, planning, and analysis
Responsibilities
Drive the delivery of information for decision making and various analyses for Northern Trust's Technology Organization, focused on strategy, labor, hardware, software, etc
Coordinate efforts among Technology, Finance, and Procurement to drive analyses into actionable efforts
Prepare and present planning and analysis to Technology Leadership, engineers, project managers, finance managers, and procurement specialists using PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, or other analytical tools
Drive analysis and presentation material for IT Capital Expenditures in the Technology Portfolio, including strategic prioritization, developing budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis
Create leadership-level analyses on Technology usage and demand, financial impacts, contractual analysis, and potential considerations
Build financial business cases for technology decisions (e.g., switching vendors, adding new products or capabilities)
Leverage data analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, Excel) to provide data-driven suggestions that drive strategic discussions and planning with senior leadership
Work with finance and procurement to analyze and report on efforts for productivity and automation
Conduct and lead special projects and ad hoc requests to support the Technology function
