  • At least 5 years of overall mechanical experience
  • Mastery level understanding of tractor and trailer equipment
  • Basic computer skills (knowledge of SAP preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75lbs occasionally and lift up to 50lbs frequently
  • Own hand tools and toolbox
  • 608 / 609 certified
  • Ability to read schematics and use a voltmeter
  • Periodic inspector certified
  • Leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance/repairs on refrigeration units & trailers
  • Perform DOT inspections on equipment
  • Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as necessary
  • Maintain vehicle records as required, both paper and computerized
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, D.O.T., and EPA regulations
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks and trailers, including brake systems, suspension systems, and electrical systems
  • Inspect and test vehicles to ensure they are in proper working order and meet safety standards
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on trucks and trailers
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines
  • Work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage
  • Diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs
  • Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment
  • Effectively communicate with all transportation personnel, including managers, drivers, and clerks
  • Read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics
  • Perform service calls on equipment at remote locations as needed
  • Communicate with vendors, assign vendor workloads, manage and order inventory levels, lead repairs, and write work orders
