Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or relevant field experience
  • 4+ years hands-on experience with designing and operating large scale Kafka and Redis clusters deployments (Kafka brokers, Zookeeper, MSK, ElastiCache, Valkey, Confluent, Strimzi and related technologies)
  • Detailed understanding of infrastructure operations and in-depth knowledge and experience around data platform solutions hosted in VMware, Kubernetes or running on managed services
  • 3+ years of experience with DevOps technologies, cloud-based provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting (preferably in AWS)
  • Extensive experience in orchestration and automation: ex: Terraform, K8S, CloudFormation, Ansible, CI/CD concepts and tools
  • Highly proficient in administering Linux environments (Ubuntu/RHEL), including configuration of networking and security
  • Demonstrable expertise around specifying, designing, and implementing system health, performance monitoring tools, and software management tools for 24x7 environments
  • Strong debugging and systems analysis skills around identification and rapid issue resolution
  • Scripting skills including bash, python, etc
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a geographically dispersed team

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Kafka/Redis clusters to ensure high availability and performance
  • Implement and manage security best practices, including SSL/TLS encryption and authentication mechanisms
  • Monitor Kafka/Redis clusters, identify issues, and troubleshoot problems to ensure seamless data flow
  • Optimize Kafka performance by tuning configurations and managing partitions and topics
  • Plan and execute Kafka version upgrades and apply patches following the change process
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and backup strategies for Kafka clusters
  • Work closely with application and operations teams to support Kafka-related projects and initiatives and lead the onboarding process for new data streams
  • Create and maintain documentation relevant to the tasks: ex. Deployment manuals, architecture diagrams, etc
  • Participate in technical escalations and on-call rotation
