Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 3-7 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA. Required skills include strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2012 and later), T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, performance tuning, HA/DR technologies (Always On Availability Groups, replication, failover clustering), SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Profiler, third-party monitoring tools, Windows Server OS, Active Directory, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include Azure database administration certification, experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, hybrid cloud environments, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Azure Cloud Infrastructure, and data warehousing with SSIS/SSRS/SSAS.

Responsibilities

The SQL DBA will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server databases, monitoring system performance, and ensuring database availability and reliability. Duties include performing database tuning, optimization, query performance monitoring, managing database security, implementing backup, recovery, and HA/DR strategies, and planning and executing database upgrades and patching. The role also involves creating and managing database documentation, collaborating with developers on database design, automating routine DBA tasks using PowerShell or T-SQL, participating in capacity planning and disaster recovery drills, and providing 24/7 support for critical systems.
