Responsibilities

Break significant sports news, from Orioles headlines to high-profile local sports events
Serve as the backup Orioles reporter, traveling to ~35% of away games and attending ~60% of home games (adjusted based on breaking news and story potential)
Produce compelling features, profiles, and enterprise pieces that reveal the “why” behind the action
Monitor the local sports scene, uncovering stories our readers didn’t know they wanted; stay current on news surrounding local stars like Angel Reese and Gervonta Davis to produce unique coverage
Collaborate with The Banner’s engagement and data teams to maximize audience reach and impact across platforms
Partner with editors and reporters across coverage areas where sports intersect business, culture, and community
Engage audiences via video, podcasts, and social media to build a vibrant, interactive connection with readers
Cover Baltimore-area sports with depth, creativity, and rigor, including Orioles’ clubhouse, boxing gyms, horse tracks, college arenas, business of sports, cultural and community impact
