Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the paraprofessional exam, OR Associate’s degree (or higher)
  • Previous Special Education Paraprofessional experience (required)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support with campus-wide activities such as lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure student safety
  • Support lead and special education teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students with disabilities to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and provide social-emotional support to students as needed
  • Substitute for lead teachers when necessary to ensure learning continues uninterrupted
  • Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with documentation and data collection related to student progress
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, respect, and independence
  • Model professionalism, patience, and high expectations in every interaction with students, staff, and families
