Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or other related field
  • 8+ years of experience, preferably in software testing, including manual and automated test development
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand a team of test engineers responsible for testing innovative medical device systems
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies spanning manual and automated approaches
  • Provide hands-on technical direction in unit, integration, regression, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and simulation-based testing
  • Drive the transition from 100% manual testing to a balanced 50–80% automation model over time
  • Champion test-first methodologies that engage verification earlier in the development process
  • Partner closely with development and systems engineering to align test execution with design and product goals
  • Ensure compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 standards through robust test documentation and disciplined verification practices
  • Establish and manage budgets, forecasts, and spending for the test engineering team
  • Partner with senior leadership to align testing strategies with business, regulatory, and clinical priorities
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve test coverage, speed of design iteration, and overall quality
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a growing team of junior engineers through coaching, performance management, and engagement
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across geographies
  • Lead change management efforts as the organization integrates test and development functions
