Software Engineer, Site Reliability (SRE)

Position Overview

Kensho, S&P Global’s hub for AI innovation, is seeking a Software Engineer, Site Reliability (SRE) to ensure the reliability and uptime of Kensho’s critical internal and customer-facing services. You will collaborate with Infrastructure and Application Engineers to develop scalable solutions and work with Technical Architects, Product and Engineering Managers, and Application Developers to ensure stability and identify improvements.

Kensho develops and deploys novel AI and Machine Learning solutions for S&P Global and its customers worldwide, focusing on areas such as speech recognition, entity linking, document extraction, automated database linking, text classification, and natural language processing. Our flexibility-first approach allows employees to work from where they are most productive and engaged (within the United States), with occasional travel to Kensho hubs for team meetings or company events.

Salary & Compensation

  • Anticipated Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $175,000
  • Additional Compensation: Eligible for an annual incentive bonus and equity plans.
  • Note: Compensation decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and individuals are typically not hired at or near the top of the range.

Responsibilities

  • Run and stabilize Kensho’s production services supporting critical financial applications and backend processes.
  • Monitor, maintain, and scale services integrated into S&P’s platform.
  • Manage end-to-end availability and performance of critical services.
  • Build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
  • Add, tune, and maintain alert configurations and documentation.
  • Design and build advanced automated operational and deployment frameworks, including tooling and infrastructure, to enhance engineering team velocity.
  • Cultivate full-team participation in high-quality software development.
  • Participate in on-call/production support rotation.
  • Develop/adapt tools and applications to automate tasks.

Requirements

  • Software Development Experience: Proven experience developing/building a scalable application is necessary.
  • Experience Level: 4+ years of experience.
  • Coding & Debugging: Strong experience in coding and debugging, with a track record of developing a large application/service.
  • Programming Languages: Fluency in any two or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C++).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Practical understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
    • DevOps experience, including engineering and supporting production services in a modern, containerized cloud environment.
    • Experience with scalable testing, automation, and continuous integration frameworks and best practices.
