Requirements

Candidates should have started in application development and shifted into infrastructure over the past few years, thinking in terms of systems, safety, and scale. They should possess a strong thesis on how modern infrastructure should work and be able to explain it clearly with tradeoffs, along with deep working experience with a major compute provider (e.g., AWS, GCP) and understanding of VPCs, subnets, and IAM policies. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, composition, separation, and change management is required, as well as experience with operations and observability, including on-call, system performance, and alerting. A practical security mindset and experience with cloud migrations are also beneficial.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineer (Infrastructure) will scale infrastructure to meet demand, tune system performance, reduce costs, and prepare the stack for increased usage. They will shape the cloud strategy, identify composable primitives, and own cloud operations by proactively monitoring system health and resolving incidents. This role also involves designing and implementing internal infrastructure, working cross-functionally with product engineers to unblock feature development, debug integration issues, and improve developer workflows, as well as contributing to process improvements and mentoring teammates.
