Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer II/Senior Software Engineer to join our technology team at Iambic Therapeutics. You will be a key player in applying advanced software engineering skills to build technologies that support our drug discovery efforts. This role involves developing training data workflows for machine-learning (ML) models, scalable deployment of machine-learning technologies, and creation, testing, and maintenance of software systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Technical acumen to develop and maintain ML systems used by the ML team.
  • Experience with ML systems that are cloud-based and frequently process TBs of data.
  • Strong Python software skills.
  • Working knowledge of concepts in Chemistry and Biology.
  • Ability to communicate with ML engineers.
  • Demonstrates competence and rigor in software development.
  • Experience working with scientific computing/lab environments (e.g., has used or administered SLURM).
  • Conversant with cloud computing; able to provide requirements to DevOps engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-functional team that spans the full domain of drug discovery.
  • Provide software development support to the ML model life cycle, working in the design and development of:
    • Efficient and maintainable data pipelines
    • Benchmarking systems of models
    • Deployments to AWS and use of Kubernetes (in collaboration with our cloud engineers)
  • Collaborate on the creation, testing, and maintenance of software systems.
  • Code review for pull requests in adjoining areas.
  • Maintenance of and mentorship in software best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaboration with ML scientists and others in the company to understand requirements for deployed models.
  • Clear oral communication of work in meetings and company demos, at a level suited to the audience.
