Who You Are

Interested in enabling highly reliable operation of a variety of applications by applying best practice monitoring and proactive improvements? You will work to ensure best practices are applied throughout the engineering teams while also enabling developer velocity and application stability. You love to learn new things and find it interesting to work with multiple teams. Vail's telephony platform is growing, and as it does, elegant solutions are needed to address both new features and provide stability to existing products.

What You'll Do

  • Enable developer velocity through build tooling and CI/CD maintenance and development.
  • Debug production issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Explore and prototype new solutions to difficult problems.
  • Design, code, troubleshoot, and debug.
  • Facilitate effective monitoring across multiple products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4+ years of experience in industry (development, operations, etc.).
  • Proficiency with at least one of Python, C++, Perl, Rust, or Go.
  • Proficiency with Unix shell scripting (bash).
  • Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to learn what is needed to solve the issue at hand.
  • Strong familiarity with Linux.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience with a CI solution (Gitlab CI, Jenkins, Circle CI, etc.).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud native monitoring solutions.
  • Experience with a database (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).

Compensation

$85,000 - $115,000 a year

The base salary range provided is determined by market data matched to the job description and the level of the position, based in our industry and the Chicagoland area. We often consider candidates who do not meet all the qualifications listed in the job description (i.e., more or less years of experience, etc.). Therefore, an offer for this position may differ from the base salary range provided depending on the qualifications/skills of the candidate. In this case, an updated pay scale would be provided.
