Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in precision mechanical manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and installation
  • Ability to read and understand detailed drawings and use SolidWorks
  • In-depth understanding of physical mechanics

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and fabricate mechanical components and systems for Audio-Animatronics using metals, plastics, and composites
  • Review, develop, and track designs through successful completion and operation
  • Identify design conflicts and resolve/modify mechanical components as needed
  • Check detailed drawings of parts, welds, assemblies, and interfaces
  • Submit production replacement schemes to the Chief Show Mechanical Engineer and draw redline drawings
  • Supervise contractor design activities, provide guidance during production and installation, and resolve technical conflicts between contractors
  • Assist in determining detailed work plans and priorities
  • Promote and advocate for a safe work environment
  • Provide support to mechanical component contractors as required and verify first article assembly and bench testing
  • Review contractor manufacturing documents against contract technical requirements
  • Conceive and innovate solutions within the Audio-Animatronics scope during product manufacturing or installation
  • Review material certifications, quality assurance, quality control reports, and other required documents
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control for mechanical parts; specify machining, mechanical assembly, assembly, and commissioning for Audio-Animatronics as needed
  • Prepare and review test and adjustment plans and procedures
  • Supervise small teams of on-site technical and support personnel as needed
  • Verify mechanical component performance as required
  • Review final Show mechanical component contractor documents and prepare/review as-built drawings
  • Review final mechanical component test, adjustment, and acceptance test documents against deliverables
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation conflicts, interferences, and other issues
  • Support training for Show mechanical component operators and maintenance, as well as control system testing and commissioning
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines (Show mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, surface development, figure finishing, Show control engineers, Show software engineers, and programmers) to support seamless integration
