Requirements
- Working knowledge of the National Electric Code
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of electricity
- Ability to make quick decisions
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of individuals including customers, inspectors, superintendents, coworkers, and employees
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- A certificate or degree from an accredited apprenticeship program with three years of experience or a 4-year degree in construction management or related field
- Appropriate hand tools
- Able and willing to work some evening and weekend hours as well as within the emergency on call rotation
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and electrical currents
- Routine lifting of objects up to 50 pounds (drills, conduit benders, pipe threaders, cable pullers, and other equipment related to the electrical trade)
- Subject to climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, and work at heights above 30 feet
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling for periods of time
Responsibilities
- Performing assigned service calls efficiently (residential and commercial)
- Troubleshooting electrical issues
- Performing electrical repairs
- Installing new electrical systems
- Ensuring work meets NEC and local electrical codes
- Completing paperwork and submitting it to the office
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe service truck
- Maintaining good attendance and punctuality
- Following all safety rules at all times
