Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in wireless systems engineering, with a focus on RF/PHY aspects and RAN technologies
  • Deep understanding of wireless communication protocols, including NB-IoT, LTE, 5G, and satellite systems
  • Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards, conformance, and performance requirements for both terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks
  • Experience with protocol and algorithm development, including contributions to standardization bodies such as 3GPP
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts as applied to wireless communications (e.g., RAN optimization, signal detection, channel modeling); hands-on experience with AI in RAN is a plus
  • Proven ability to conduct in-depth technical research and propose effective, innovative solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and operations teams
  • Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments such as startups is highly valued
  • Based in Espoo, Finland office and requires being onsite 3 days per week

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of link budget, satellite antenna and propagation, channel and interference modeling, RF impairments and coexistence
  • Contributions to 3GPP RAN4 supporting Skylo's services and roadmap
  • Analysis of network performance under various conditions, and optimization of efficiency, reliability, and latency to improve network KPIs
  • Develop features for chipset and device certification roadmap to protect Skylo’s strategy and enable value added services
  • Simulations at link-level for existing specifications, including 5G NR, 4G NB-IoT and LTE etc. and new technologies e.g. AI for RAN
  • Technical documentation and updates for internal and external stakeholders
  • Review designs, define test plans, and ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Innovate and contribute to Skylo’s IP portfolio
