This is a critical leadership role reporting directly to the General Manager of the ICHRA business unit. The ideal candidate is a senior technology leader passionate about early-stage platform development, with a desire to significantly influence product architecture, engineering culture, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with enterprise IT leadership to ensure the platform's compliance, security, and scalability. About Gravie and ICHRA

Gravie is a pioneer in the Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRA) market, dedicated to improving how people purchase and access healthcare through consumer-centric solutions. Our mission is to deliver innovative, user-friendly health benefit solutions. We foster a diverse and inclusive environment where authenticity is valued.

ICHRAs are a modern, flexible employer-sponsored health benefit model that allows organizations to reimburse employees tax-free for individual health insurance premiums and qualified medical expenses. This model empowers employees with greater choice and portability in their healthcare, while enabling employers to manage costs, compliance, and benefit design with enhanced control.

Responsibilities

  • Platform Development: Lead the end-to-end development of a new ICHRA platform from inception, encompassing architecture, core systems, integrations, data, and customer experiences.
  • Strategic Roadmap & Governance: Define a multi-year technical roadmap, establish technology governance standards, and manage technical and operational risks.
  • Executive Leadership: Serve as the top engineering executive for the ICHRA business unit, reporting to the General Manager and contributing to strategic and operational planning.
  • Financial Management: Strategically manage budgets, resource allocation, and cost optimization, demonstrating clear ROI for engineering investments.
  • Enterprise Collaboration: Collaborate closely with centralized Platform Architecture, Information Security, and Corporate IT teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards for security, infrastructure, and scalability.
  • Talent Acquisition & Development: Play a visible role in attracting top engineering talent across backend, frontend, DevOps, QA, and data engineering. Establish clear career paths and empower teams through effective delegation and leadership.
  • Resilience & Compliance: Design resilient systems with robust disaster recovery capabilities and implement data governance frameworks for data integrity and responsible use. Ensure platform security and compliance with relevant regulations, including HIPAA, ACA, IRS Section 213(d), and applicable healthcare privacy and security laws.
  • Business Acumen: Develop a deep understanding of the ICHRA business model and how technology drives revenue and profitability. Partner with Product, Compliance, Operations, and Go-to-Market teams to deliver features that meet market needs and differentiate the product.
  • Process & Quality Improvement: Establish and manage engineering processes, KPIs, technical metrics, and development practices to drive quality, speed, and reliability. Address and prioritize technical debt while optimizing performance.

About Gravie

Gravie provides health benefits by offering straightforward and affordable health plans, primarily targeting individuals and small to midsize businesses. Their main product, Comfort, stands out because it has no deductible and no copays for most common healthcare services, allowing members to access care without unexpected costs. Additionally, Comfort includes virtual care options for musculoskeletal and mental health issues. Gravie also offers a payment solution called Gravie Pay, which enables members to pay for healthcare expenses interest-free, further easing financial stress. Unlike traditional health plans, Gravie claims that Comfort members save on out-of-pocket costs, and employers switching to Gravie often see lower premium expenses. The company has a high retention rate, indicating that many employees choose to continue with the Comfort plan in subsequent years. Gravie's goal is to simplify health benefits and reduce the financial burden of healthcare for its members.
