Requirements

  • Educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines
  • Experience in forestry or related fields and line of work
  • Reside within 50 miles of Chico or Oroville, CA
  • Capable of utilizing computers and running reports/updating data in PG&E’s VMDSRs
  • Capable and comfortable working with software applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, audits, and monitor contractor performance
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned tree clearance crews
  • Serve as liaison between clients, tree crews, and customers
  • Resolve obstacles to ensure work completion in a safe, cost-effective, efficient, timely, and productive manner, including managing time and expenses
  • Manage day-to-day activities to ensure personnel focus, appropriate scope, equipment utilization, and documentation
  • Act as VM contact for new business and re-construction work
  • Approve scheduling and scope changes in the field with PG&E representative approval
  • Promote safety culture, perform/document Safety Observations and Good Catches, ensure compliance with safety rules
  • Audit work performed by VMIs for compliance
  • Assist with training and onboarding of VM Inspectors
  • Support PG&E Work Verification team for timely addressing of observations
  • Maintain working relationships with public agencies (e.g., Caltrans, CalFire, USFS, BLM)
  • Maintain working relationships with PG&E’s tree contractors for escalated work (e.g., customer complaints)
  • Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe tree work to maintain compliance for at least one year
  • Assess trees for failure likelihood/hazards and determine trim or removal needs
  • Identify and prescribe pruning/tree/brush removal for electric compliance (e.g., 540 tags)
  • Ensure work complies with PG&E standards, procedures, permits, safety requirements, and regulations
  • Perform Quality Check audits on VMIs for field compliance and data integrity
  • Assist in outage investigations
  • Assist in local Divisional Operational Emergency Center (OEC) as directed
