Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and a minimum of 12 years of relevant industry experience, or a Master’s degree with 9 years of experience, or 16 years of practical experience. They must have object-oriented software development experience, hands-on experience with C# and .NET Core, and significant experience in designing high-volume production systems with considerations for high availability, disaster recovery, performance, fault tolerance, and security. Expertise in RDBMS technologies (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch) is required, along with expertise in event/stream processing mechanisms, specifically Kafka, but also AWS SNS/SQS, RabbitMQ, or AzureBus.

Responsibilities

The Senior Staff Software Engineer will set architectural direction for the organization and help evolve systems toward it, leading TCGplayer in the migration from a monolithic architecture to microservice architecture. They will develop code that meets requirements and aligns with standard methodologies, conducting code reviews and providing expert mentorship. The role involves building clear documentation and diagrams, developing detailed technical requirements, and using deep technical experience of company systems to collaborate with product and engineering counterparts. Furthermore, they will participate in the Principal’s Guild to set technical direction, design patterns, and standard methodologies, demonstrating initiative and attention to detail during daily operations while encouraging peers with high-quality technical contributions.
