Requirements

Candidates should possess 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a related software engineering role, with direct experience supporting production services at scale. Proficiency in a modern programming language, such as Ruby, Rails, or Elixir, is preferred, along with hands-on experience with observability tooling like Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Sentry. Experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, and RDS is required, alongside knowledge of relational databases like CockroachDB and PostgreSQL with experience in performance optimization and query tuning. Experience with Kafka is a plus, and prior work developing and improving Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, SRE at Spreedly, you will enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of the globally distributed payments platform by focusing on the application layer and collaborating with product and platform engineers. Your responsibilities include designing, implementing, and improving observability systems using tools like Datadog and OpenTelemetry, leading root cause analysis and incident resolution, diagnosing and resolving application-level bottlenecks, optimizing database performance, serving as a reliability partner to product and infrastructure teams, building developer tools for automation, and supporting incident response and postmortems in high-stakes environments.
