About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the QA team. The QA team at SmartAsset aims to improve the stability and quality of our applications by building scalable automated solutions and providing a well-tested environment for developers to freely and quickly make changes. Your role on the team will be to lead the testing efforts of the development team by creating testing solutions and contributing to an existing but new automation suite. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team in the process of making many transformative changes to testing across the organization. You will be working on continuously developing automation in an environment that encourages improvement and innovation. The ideal candidate is a testing leader, collaborative, and is able to adapt quickly to a changing environment.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience working on QA teams with a heavy focus on automation.
  • Frameworks: Strong experience with an automated testing framework such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Languages: Proven experience in developing automated suites with Java and TypeScript (TypeScript required).
  • Version Control: Knowledge of Git or other source control tools.
  • API Testing: Familiarity with testing APIs through Postman or other API testing tools.
  • Load Testing: Experience with developing load and stress tests.

Responsibilities

  • Support the testing needs of an Agile Scrum team responsible for critical lead management services.
  • Develop new automated tests for both frontend and backend systems.
  • Collaborate with other QA team members to build a standardized QA suite and align on various testing procedures.
  • Migrate existing Selenium automation tests to Playwright.
  • Work closely with developers and product members to understand the testing needs of the team.
  • Identify opportunities to adopt new technologies or team processes that can improve the quality and efficiency of the software we build and deliver.
