Familiarity with Linux init systems, containerization, filesystems, and networking is required. Expertise in device drivers and kernel-space code is essential, along with experience in software build and update systems. A proven track record in delivering production systems, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in languages like C or C++ and scripting languages like Bash or Python are necessary. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required, while a graduate degree in computer science or a closely related field is a bonus.
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining Zoox's custom operating system and managing kernel selection, configuration, and device driver updates. They will develop system services, operating system build tools, and installation tools, and manage the software build and authorization systems. The role involves designing and developing in-field update mechanisms and operating system validation plans, implementing OS security features, and defining modes to audit and control software and hardware configurations at runtime. Additionally, they will enable adaptive runtime behavior for various scenarios and manage hardware-in-the-loop continuous integration infrastructure.
