The Senior Software Engineer, Platform Engineering at Mixpanel requires 8+ years of coding experience, expertise in at least one programming language ecosystem (preferably Go, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript), and production experience managing Kubernetes at scale. Additionally, they need production experience managing infrastructure in a major cloud provider, with a preference for Google Cloud Platform, and proficiency with observability solutions like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Distributed Tracing.
This role involves partnering with various teams to optimize their software development lifecycle for speed, safety, and reliability, supporting both front-end UI code and stateful storage systems. The engineer will support systems handling over 1 trillion user-generated events monthly with sub-minute latencies, managing Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine, overseeing Terraform, cost management, networking, and security best practices. They will also be responsible for service ownership of Kubernetes, facilitating Kubernetes upgrades, setting deployment and observability standards, managing observability pipelines with over 30 million Prometheus metrics and 4 billion distributed tracing spans, maintaining GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, running the devbox system, procuring SaaS tooling, running the new engineer onboarding process, and serving as a mentor and example for the engineering team.
