The candidate should have several years of experience building complex applications for a broad and diverse user base using Java, Kotlin, and/or C++. They should also possess experience in resolving problems, signaling risk, fostering change, and facilitating collaborative decision-making. Modern programming practices such as code review, unit testing, and automation are required, along with a passion for building excellent products and a sense of ownership from design to bug fixing. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, delivering well-designed, reusable, and high-quality code on time, and will be unafraid to ask questions and propose new insights. The Senior Software Engineer will build, debug, and ship Android features and solutions that promote a healthy and inclusive internet. They will become a member of a hardworking, diverse, and geographically distributed team responsible for the Firefox mobile applications and their ecosystem of open-source Android components. The role involves collaborating with partners to understand, define, clarify scope, solidify requirements, and drive initiatives. The engineer will effectively communicate the engineering development perspective and discuss sophisticated topics with technical and non-technical team members. They will define and uphold standards for quality through constructive code reviews, bug fixing, testing, and coding practices. Additionally, the engineer will work closely with specialist Gecko teams to bring browser functionality to Android, address problems spanning multiple layers from the Java API to the C++ browser engine, and provide solutions and feedback to the open-source community to improve Android solutions and support Mozilla's manifesto.
