Candidates should possess 4+ years of post-bachelor’s degree experience as a software engineer, specializing in developing and integrating applications within z/OS and related programming languages such as C, C++, and z/OS High Level Assembler (HLASM). Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system architecture, network configurations, and experience with compiler and software build tools is required, alongside familiarity with network protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, and SSL. Furthermore, candidates must have hands-on experience with SQL and database tuning, specifically DB2, and be proficient in client-server and multi-tier system development.
As a Senior Software Engineer Mainframe 688, the individual will contribute to the continuous development, enhancement, and maintenance of existing and new Protegrity products. They will be accountable for designing, coding, testing, modifying, and implementing software, while also mentoring and advising on effective development practices, including design patterns and frameworks. The role involves assisting in planning and estimation of product backlogs and features, contributing to Agile development processes, and leading technical interactions with internal and external stakeholders regarding requirements and design. Adaptability to learn and enhance skills in data security alongside the product’s technical environment is essential, as is the ability to mentor and review the work of other engineers and collaborate effectively within and across teams. The role also encompasses owning cross-team technical dependencies and ensuring a well-engineered outcome.
