Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify inefficiencies across the build, test, and release loops and spearhead projects to make them better.
  • Work at different layers of the stack and on developer environments across multiple operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android).
  • Dig into physical and virtualized environments to resolve ergonomic, performance, and configuration issues within the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Create tools that abstract complexity for product teams and help us ship code faster, without sacrificing safety or quality.
  • Give back to the open source community – upstreaming work to benefit the community.
  • Onboard to the team and codebase with an onboarding buddy.
  • Attend onboarding presentations on the company, product, codebase, and culture.
  • Become familiar with build, test, and release systems for all applications across supported operating systems.
  • Learn or get oriented to coding languages (Swift, Golang, and Python) and developer environments (Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android).
  • Work side-by-side with other engineers on bug fixes and small improvements.
  • Post feedback about using Dia in the #dogfooding channel.
  • Understand the CI/CD pipeline deeply to propose new ways to streamline and visualize it.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Swift toolchain, Swift for Windows bindings, and Chromium integration.
  • Ship improvements to major build systems or tools (Swift toolchain, VSCode editor, LLDB debugger, CMake).
  • Participate in infrastructure improvement discussions (observability, performance monitoring, updater stability).
  • Be involved in company-wide engineering discussions about architecture, code review, and code style.
  • Contribute to on-call rotations and incidents.
