Requirements

Candidates should have 4+ years of full-stack experience writing code in a professional setting. Strong proficiency in Go and shell scripting is required, along with experience in TypeScript and familiarity with different operating systems. An OSS presence on platforms like GitHub or GitLab is essential, as well as an understanding of networking fundamentals such as IP, TCP, TLS, SSH, and HTTP. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and self-motivation are also necessary, along with a creative and analytical mindset. Startup experience is preferred, and proficiency in Kotlin and a background in developer tooling, platform engineering, or IaC are considered bonuses.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will provide expertise on the technical direction and architecture for open-source projects that enhance and integrate with the core product. They will build, maintain, and release popular projects that integrate with VS Code, JetBrains, and other developer tools. Mentorship and guidance around contribution best practices will be provided to both internal team members and external contributors. The engineer will collaborate with Product and Design teams at Coder, as well as partners like JetBrains and Spotify, to execute broad platform goals and support Coder's enterprise user base alongside Customer Success teams.
