Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of software development experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant systems is required. Proficiency in Python for automation and tooling, familiarity with project management and version control platforms like GitHub or GitLab, and a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git are essential. Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker, and basic database systems with SQL query proficiency is necessary. Experience with AI tools, writing prompts, and developing integrations with AI tools and LLM agents is also required. The ability to occasionally read C++ code for understanding internals, familiarity with C/C++/Rust and their build systems, and a proven track record in developing and maintaining large-scale technical projects in fast-paced environments are crucial. Strong problem-solving, debugging skills, and an understanding of production-level systems and failure modes are expected, along with effective communication and collaboration skills for working with a globally distributed team.
The Senior Software Engineer will architect and build scalable infrastructure on public cloud services to support continuous delivery of the open-source ClickHouse database and ClickHouse Cloud. They will develop platforms and tooling for continuous quality assurance, artifact delivery, and large-scale automated testing. Responsibilities include streamlining CI/CD workflows, enhancing the developer experience through automation and visibility, and collaborating with core database and security teams to integrate CI processes. The role also involves monitoring, debugging, and optimizing CI infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
High-speed column-oriented database management system
ClickHouse provides a high-speed, column-oriented database management system designed for developers and businesses that manage large-scale data. Its primary product processes analytical queries quickly by storing data from the same columns together, making it significantly faster than traditional row-oriented databases, especially in Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) scenarios. ClickHouse stands out from competitors by offering a free, open-source database that can be deployed on local machines or in the cloud, along with a fully managed service on platforms like AWS, GCP, and Microsoft Azure. The company's goal is to deliver a cost-effective solution that simplifies data management for its clients, as evidenced by user feedback highlighting substantial cost savings.
