Candidates should have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin. A track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes is required. Experience supporting highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, distributed databases, containerization, and Kubernetes is essential, along with active experience building scalable infrastructure components including pipelines, configuration management, and automation. Proficiency in making significant changes in large code bases and developing tools and practices for safe modifications is necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also required. A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience is needed.
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for owning and delivering quarterly goals, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and supporting team members. They will collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints and make decisions considering risks and trade-offs. The engineer will proactively identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues. They will support the operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call efforts. Fostering a culture of quality and ownership by setting and improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond the team through writing and tech talks, will be key. Additionally, they will help develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance.
