Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience
9+ years of backend services development and domain ownership
Expertise in one of the following programming languages: Kotlin, Java, Go, C#, Python, Ruby, JavaScript
Comfortable dealing with a large amount of ambiguity
Experience working directly with product and cross-team stakeholders to achieve outcomes
Experience owning and operating systems end-to-end
Experience building, shipping, and maintaining software
Passion for cross-team collaboration

Responsibilities

Design and build backend services that power verification and risk controls used across Remitly
Ship reliable, observable, and scalable systems that meet strict availability and latency SLOs for customer-facing flows
Partner with Product, Risk, and Compliance to translate regulatory and operational requirements into robust technical solutions
Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, on-call, and continuous improvement
Improve platform primitives for feature gating, configuration, experimentation, and data quality
Contribute to engineering excellence through design reviews, documentation, and operational runbooks
Lead technical discussions, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and advocate for best practices in coding, testing, and system design
Contribute to the evolution of the Trust Platform
