Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 9+ years of backend services development and domain ownership
  • Expertise in one of the following programming languages: Kotlin, Java, Go, C#, Python, Ruby, JavaScript
  • Comfortable dealing with a large amount of ambiguity
  • Experience working directly with product and cross-team stakeholders to achieve outcomes
  • Experience owning and operating systems end-to-end
  • Experience building, shipping, and maintaining software
  • Passion for cross-team collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Design and build backend services that power verification and risk controls used across Remitly
  • Ship reliable, observable, and scalable systems that meet strict availability and latency SLOs for customer-facing flows
  • Partner with Product, Risk, and Compliance to translate regulatory and operational requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, on-call, and continuous improvement
  • Improve platform primitives for feature gating, configuration, experimentation, and data quality
  • Contribute to engineering excellence through design reviews, documentation, and operational runbooks
  • Lead technical discussions, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and advocate for best practices in coding, testing, and system design
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Trust Platform
