thatgamecompany is seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer to support the operation of Sky: Children of the Light. The role involves developing applications critical for managing the game’s live operations, which serve millions of active users and process terabytes of data daily. You will report to the Lead Full Stack Engineer and contribute to the development of software for both internal and external customers. A portfolio demonstrating previous work is required.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of professional programming experience.
  • Node.js: Experience building modern REST APIs in Node.js.
  • Typescript: Experience with writing Typescript packages.
  • Front-End Frameworks: Experience with modern front-end Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, Next, Hooks).
  • Database Experience: Experience designing data structures and querying relational and non-relational database technologies such as Postgresql, Redis, MongoDB, etc.
  • Version Control: Experience with Git version control system.
  • AWS Services: Experience with AWS Services (S3, Elastic Beanstalk, DynamoDB, IAM).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to dynamic challenges.
  • Collaboration: Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify issues and create solutions independently.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to design and document features with scalability in mind.
  • Build backend API and frontend components and pages.
  • Utilize Node.js, Next.js, and SQL.
  • Meet weekly with team members and the full ITS team to discuss progress and ideas.
  • Interact with different departments of the company to discover and address problems and needs.
  • Contribute to thatgamecompany’s unique culture and vision.
