Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in sanctions compliance, financial crime risk, or regulatory technology, preferably within a financial institution or digital asset firm. A comprehensive understanding of global sanctions and financial crime regulations, their application in financial services, and their intersection with digital access and jurisdictional exposure is required. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, familiarity with tools that detect or mitigate VPN, proxy, or Tor traffic, and an understanding of sanctions evasion methodologies are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience delivering presentations and guidance to senior stakeholders or regulators, are also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Senior Sanctions Risk Analyst will serve as the Subject Matter Expert for geolocation-based sanctions controls and jurisdictional risk. Responsibilities include designing and implementing IP-based controls for detecting and preventing interactions with sanctioned or high-risk jurisdictions, overseeing the integration of IP geolocation tools and blockchain analytics platforms, and analyzing user activity logs to identify mismatches between declared residency and actual location. The role involves developing risk-based rules for Proof of Address collection or account review, contributing to regulatory exams and policy reviews, and maintaining knowledge of evolving global sanctions frameworks. Additionally, the analyst will collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements, conduct in-depth analysis of screening results, and deliver internal training on best practices related to IP risk and sanctions evasion techniques.
