Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or similar
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in engineering design, R&D, or product development
  • Experience drafting or contributing to patent applications and invention disclosures
  • Familiarity with international patent filing processes (preferred)
  • Mastering the Dutch and English language
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to suggest out-of-the-box solutions
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Strong technical writing expertise to support development, documentation, and protection of innovative technologies
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear technical documentation

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, analyses, troubleshoots, and provides technical skills during research and/or product development
  • Designs studies to investigate specific life science questions within field of expertise
  • May be involved in product research and development and/or clinical trials
  • Translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products
  • Improves product performance and manufacturability by designing, calculating, modelling, prototyping, and testing
  • Bridges engineering design and intellectual property (IP) strategy to ensure innovations are effectively captured and protected
  • Works in a multi-disciplinary team on design, development, and testing of surgical instruments and related manufacturing processes
