Requirements

  • Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design/Textile/Print/Graphic Design
  • 7-10 years of experience
  • Strong design and conceptual skills, strong sense of textile and color application, and strong knowledge of textiles, artwork techniques & fabric with ability to identify key trends and determine how they appropriately relate to the brand/consumer
  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, NED Graphics, Procreate and/or Fresco
  • Positive and passionate with strong problem-solving skills and a desire to work in a collaborative environment and build strong relationships with business partners & team mates
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to multi-task and prioritize along with clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coach, manage and develop skills of direct reports
  • Willingness to work in office at the Nordstrom Seattle office a minimum of 4 days/week (hybrid role in Seattle, WA area)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the design process from concept to completion while partnering with the Director to ensure alignment on priorities and artwork direction
  • Consistently shop and research marketplace, including competitors, for inspirations and opportunities in product, fabric, wash, color
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of contemporary market, may lead multiple brands and categories
  • Research, identify, and present print & color trend direction, and create and present design boards for each season showcasing print direction
  • Create artwork and prints for each season
  • Actively participate in the conceptual development of print story and seasonal direction
  • Ensure the print is consistent with market trends and business strategy, is designed within cost and technical parameters, and works closely with design partner to ensure print point of view is in line with overarching seasonal direction
  • Provide leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area
  • Develop staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments, establishing performance and development plans, and create an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications
  • Own partnership with Cross-Functional Teams (CFTs) and oversee catering content to meet their needs
  • Seasonal travel for research and/or product development
