Principal Machine Learning Engineer- Perception
Motional- Full Time
- Junior (1 to 2 years)
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in perception system development for autonomous systems, specifically within the aerospace or defense industries. Strong experience in computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning, including the implementation of deep learning models for object detection and tracking, is required. Familiarity with LiDAR, radar, and camera systems is also necessary, along with experience in building and deploying real-time perception software for embedded systems.
As a Senior Perception Engineer, you will develop perception algorithms for UAVs, focusing on real-time object detection, classification, tracking, and environmental mapping, and you will design and optimize sensor fusion pipelines integrating various sensors. You will implement computer vision techniques for autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance, collaborate with GNC and autonomy teams to integrate perception outputs, build and deploy real-time perception software for embedded systems, and optimize algorithms to address challenges like sensor noise and dynamic lighting. Furthermore, you will develop testing frameworks, leverage AI/ML models, and ensure perception systems meet defense standards, all while contributing to the creation of decentralized autonomous platforms for national security.
