Senior Software Engineer, Motion Planning - Full Stack
Standard Bots- Full Time
- Mid-level (3 to 4 years), Senior (5 to 8 years)
The Controls Team is responsible for the synthesis and execution of dynamic trajectories by the Motional Autonomous Vehicle. This team focuses on the generation of comfortable and safe trajectories for the AV to perform, the design of control systems that interface with vehicle platform actuators, and the communication interfaces that relay trajectory information to low-level control modules. The team pursues these goals through a process of rigorous algorithmic design, validation, analysis in simulation, and comprehensive closed-course and public road evaluation.
We are seeking a Senior Motion Planning and Controls Engineer to build a robust motion planning and control pipeline as our responsibilities grow to support more motion control capabilities and the scaling of Motional’s deployment area. This role will contribute to enabling cutting-edge capabilities for Motional’s AV, including algorithm design and documentation, software development, metrics definition, simulation implementation and evaluation, and in-vehicle testing. The team member will maintain cross-functional relationships across the organization to help understand and communicate the impacts of their work on overall AV performance.
Develops fully driverless robotaxis for urban transport
Motional develops fully driverless vehicles, specifically robotaxis, aimed at transforming urban transportation. Their all-electric robotaxis are designed to navigate complex city environments safely and efficiently. Motional partners with ride-hailing and delivery services, providing them with advanced autonomous vehicle technology to enhance their operations and reduce costs. A unique aspect of Motional's service is its Command Center, which allows for real-time tracking of each robotaxi, enabling human agents to monitor performance and ensure passenger safety. Unlike many competitors, Motional focuses on integrating its vehicles into existing mobility networks, making driverless technology accessible and reliable. The company's goal is to make autonomous vehicles a safe and integral part of urban transportation.
