Responsibilities

  • Write, curate, and develop a five-days-a-week premium newsletter with heavy emphasis on cultural commentary reflecting WSJ editorial page's free market philosophy, using a distinct, personable voice and cultural lens
  • Work with Editorial Page Editor, Opinion Managing Editor, Lead Editor, and stakeholders to execute a clear newsletter strategy informed by audience insights and data
  • Collaborate with Opinion section's data, SEO, and social media teams to build audience and reach new readers via email and other platforms
  • Partner with editorial board members, editorial writers, columnists, and features editors to adapt their reporting into newsletter content tailored to the newsletter's voice, cultural lens, and subscriber goals
  • Leverage newsletter best practices (advanced segmentation, testing, CTAs, integration with subscription campaigns) to drive subscriptions and conversions
  • Develop strategies to build community through interactive segments, reader feedback loops, surveys, live events, and AMAs for two-way engagement
  • Use audience insights, A/B testing, and analytics to refine content, formats, and tone for loyalty and engagement
  • Experiment with voice, tone, and personalization to optimize the newsletter
