Position Overview

Serve Robotics is revolutionizing urban logistics with its personable sidewalk robot, designed to move deliveries off congested streets, increase accessibility, and support local businesses. We are seeking talented individuals to help us transition robotic deliveries from a novelty to an everyday utility.

About Serve Robotics

We are a team of experienced professionals in software, hardware, and design dedicated to building a better future through robotics, machine learning, and computer vision, with a keen focus on end-to-end user experience. Our agile, diverse, and driven team thrives on collaborative and respectful problem-solving.

There is a significant demand for efficient, fast, and reliable deliveries across various delivery companies, restaurant chains, and individual restaurants. Serve Robotics aims to meet this demand by developing robust, scalable mapping, autonomous driving, routing capabilities, and high-quality real-time localization. As a small but highly capable team, your contributions will have a substantial impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement core components of our next-generation mapping and localization engine.
  • Develop a mapping system capable of scaling to city-wide environments.
  • Collaborate to enhance map annotation tooling and the consumption of data by neural network-based approaches for safe traversable area navigation.
  • Fuse motion and position estimates to reduce uncertainty in global localization.
  • Work closely with other autonomy team members to maximize the utility of mapping and localization systems.
  • Ship production-quality code, actively participate in code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Robotics with a focus on localization and mapping, plus 5+ years of experience, OR a PhD with a strong research background applicable to practical robotic localization and mapping solutions.
  • Deep understanding of SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) systems.
  • Strong C++ programming skills.
  • Proven ability to design and build a functional system that can gracefully evolve into an elegant, scalable solution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with real sensors, such as LiDAR, cameras, RGB-D sensors, etc.
  • Experience with CUDA programming.
  • Experience with very large geospatial datasets.
  • Experience building cloud applications.
  • Experience building infrastructure for labeling and maintaining HD maps.
