Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering is required, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead role. Naval engineering experience is strongly preferred, along with proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. A strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes is essential, while experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a plus. Excellent project management skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components, creating detailed engineering drawings and specifications. They will utilize CAD software to modify designs and conduct feasibility studies for new projects. This role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely completion within budget and quality standards, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and preparing project status reports for stakeholders. The engineer will provide technical guidance to junior engineers, perform detailed analyses and simulations, and conduct failure analyses with corrective actions. They will develop testing protocols to validate mechanical systems, analyze test data, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Additionally, they will prepare comprehensive technical documentation, participate in design reviews, and identify opportunities for process improvements while staying current with industry trends.
