Position Overview

At Devoted Health, we are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of older Americans by providing compassionate, integrated healthcare. We are a fast-growing, all-in-one healthcare company combining insurance, clinical care, service, and technology. Founded in 2017, we now serve members across the United States and are seeking talented individuals to join our mission.

This role is for an experienced Senior Internal Auditor who will be a key addition to our developing Internal Audit (IA) department. This individual will have the opportunity to contribute to establishing policies, methodologies, and procedures, performing baseline assessments, and demonstrating the value IA brings to the organization. If you are passionate about designing audit processes, this role is for you.

While performing traditional audit work, the Senior Internal Auditor's responsibilities will also expand as needed within the organization. This role will involve evaluating internal controls over financial reporting, entity-level controls, and information technology controls. Additionally, the Senior Internal Auditor will conduct risk-based financial or operational audits and projects, which may include third-party assessments, and participate in risk assessments to inform annual audit plans.

Responsibilities and Impact

  • Perform and/or review control testing and other risk-based audits and projects.
  • Identify and analyze financial, operational, technological, and compliance risks and control issues.
  • Propose recommended corrective actions to improve the effectiveness of policies and procedures and/or to address deficiencies.
  • Comprehensively document procedures, findings, conclusions, and recommendations in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Global Internal Audit Standards within the GRC tool.
  • Participate collaboratively in departmental quality review procedures.
  • Write and communicate reports tailored to the specific audience.
  • Network and maintain relationships with business owners and second-line departments (e.g., Internal Control over Financial Reporting Program, Enterprise Risk Management Program, Security GRC) to identify risks, perform audits, and increase organizational awareness of the IA function.
  • Lead or support special projects as requested by management and/or the Audit & Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and deliver internal audit control-related training in collaboration with the Senior Manager and/or other second-line departments.
  • Research and stay current with industry and professional developments and emerging trends impacting risks and controls within the organization.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on healthcare, business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of auditing experience in the healthcare industry, including external and internal auditing.
  • Experience in evaluating financial (MAR and SOX), technological, operational, and compliance risks and controls.
  • Professional certification in Accounting, Audit, Systems Audit, or Insurance (e.g., Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Healthcare Internal Audit Professional).
