Senior Fullstack Software Engineer - Agentic AI

Position Overview

Our mission is to be the technology backbone for strategic competition against peer adversaries. These missions – including intelligence, information operations, special activities, and perception management – are happening today and their success or failure will determine if we go to war tomorrow.

We've been on the front lines of these missions since 2019, and have grown to support a wide range of missions across all US service branches, multiple combatant commands, partner nations, and interagency stakeholders. We deploy both hardware and software products to support people on the front lines that span collection, planning / assessments, and effects.

We've grown from $3M in run-rate revenue in 2021 to $80M in run-rate revenue today. We've been profitable since 2022 and have raised $91M in venture capital funding through Series B. We're valued at $1.5B as of 2025.

The Agentic AI team is building key AI-native applications as well as the platforms and libraries to embed Agentic AI across the company. We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to help build and deliver mission-critical capabilities into the hands of those who serve our nation.

We are working in a space that is a perfect fit for AI Agents - the process is plentiful but well specified, there is an abundance of multi-modal data, and accelerating speed to decision is the difference between winning and losing. You will work on cutting edge technical challenges that span AI, UX design, and software engineering, while also working on problems that matter.

Responsibilities

  • Design & prototype agentic solutions: Own the full lifecycle of building agents - prompt engineering, custom agent architectures, tool-calling, fine-tuning, guardrails, and evaluations.
  • Build chat and agent native applications: Implement new features to grow our dedicated chat-first application and embed agentic assistant experiences into new applications.
  • Implement re-usable components: Work with other engineers to build re-usable components for key patterns like contextual chat experiences, human-in-the-loop agents, and ambient agents that can be used across the Vannevar product suite.
  • Embed with customers and mission owners: Dive deep into customer workflows to collect feedback, debug in the field, and iterate quickly.
  • Collaborate across disciplines: Building effective AI-native applications crosses many disciplines. To build the right application you will work with AI Engineers to understand the capabilities and limitations of AI agents, designers to pick the right UX patterns for users, and product owners to solve real-world customer workflows.

Requirements

  • A track record of shipping high impact, fullstack, and preferably data or AI-enabled applications.
  • Deep and current knowledge of AI capabilities, LLM tooling, and emerging trends.
  • An excitement to work cross-functionally with other engineers, designers, and machine learning engineers.
  • Bias towards achieving outcomes, including willingness to step outside your immediate role to ensure mission success.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (like Postgres), caching technologies (like Redis), object stores (like S3), and distributed search systems (like ElasticSearch).
  • Experience with React, Typescript/JavaScript, and Python.
  • Active or previous TS / SCI Clearance is a plus but not needed.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $160,000 - $180,000 + equity + 401K match.
    • Note: Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, relevant education, and/or training.
  • Benefits Package Highlights:
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
    • 100% remote first culture (work from anywhere in the US, with WeWork access for all full-time employees)
    • Unlimited PTO including competitive vacation and holiday schedules
    • Lifestyle stipends
